What BraidDeck costs
No subscription and no monthly bill. BraidDeck charges a booking fee of $2 + 3% of the deposit, paid by your client on top of your deposit — only on bookings that take a deposit.
During testing the fee is off. Right now clients pay the deposit only. See what that means for you below.
One booking, worked through
A client books a $250 style. You ask for a $50 deposit.
When they book
- Your deposit
- $50
- BraidDeck booking fee ($2 + 3% of $50)
- $3.50
- Your client pays at booking
- $53.50
On the day
- Price of the style
- $250
- Deposit already paid
- − $50
- Your client pays you
- $200
The deposit counts toward the price; the fee does not. Your client pays $250 for the style plus $3.50 for booking it. The rest is settled between you on the day, however you normally take payment — BraidDeck does not collect it.
What reaches you
The deposit is a payment into your own Stripe account, and Stripe charges its processing fee on it. On a standard US card that’s 2.9% + 30¢ of the $53.50 — about $1.85. The booking fee is sized to cover it:
- Your client pays
- $53.50
- Stripe's processing fee (standard US card)
- − $1.85
- BraidDeck keeps
- − $1.65
- You receive
- $50
On a standard US card, that is your full $50 deposit. On a card issued outside the US it is slightly less: Stripe charges about 1.5% more for those, and today that difference comes out of your side — roughly $0.80 on this booking.
While BraidDeck is in testing
The booking fee is switched off, so your clients pay the deposit only and BraidDeck takes nothing. Stripe still charges its processing fee, and with no booking fee to cover it, it comes out of your deposit: on $50 that’s about $1.75, so you receive about $48.25 — the same as taking that payment on your own Stripe account.
Either way, what the fee will be during your own test is agreed with you before you take a single booking.
Refunds
Cancelling a booking never refunds anything on its own. You decide, per booking, whether to give back all of the deposit, some of it, or none. That is your policy, not ours — and if you write a cancellation policy, clients tick to agree to it before they pay.
A refund comes back out of your Stripe balance. The booking fee is not refunded, and Stripe keeps its processing fee on a refund either way.
